We all know theres an unpleasant side to most of our birding sites. Illegal hunting is clearly the worst, but also fly-tipping, off-roading, louts, arson, etc are all in there Months ago, I met someone shooting rabbits on a LNR, and I risked challenging him. More recently, Ive talked with birders &am...
A Woodpigeon was in song for a prolonged period this morning, joining the regular singing Robins, seemingly one either side of the garden along the hedge. Single Robins enter the garden and on occasion two will arrive at once and have a skirmish. House Sparrow numbers in the garden seem to be up to a max...

Disturbance at the carpark area has begun, they oddly were working on the reservoir side of the bridge, which I can't understand of what benefit this would have?

Apologies in advance if this is a daft question, but we came across a dead heron today and I wondered if it should be reported to anyone in case they want to autopsy it? If so who? It's on private land and not in anyone's way. Quite recent, it wasn't there on Monday afternoon so it's less than 3 days dead. Tha...

Saw a Green Woodpecker today for first time in there having been going in there for a few years. I Know Bill Myerscough heard one several times early last year but not sure if he saw it. We get them breeding around Rochdale but would be nice to get breeding in Hopwood. Just need a lesser spot now! Steve -- Ed...

Today I dropped in on the Black Moss Covert NR adjacent to the TPT in Broadheath. Seen were the following 7 Common Woodpigeon (White-necked...
