It was also a female I saw before Steve. Based on location id presume it is the same bird as Stevens post. Fingers crossed we have a male looking for her somewhere in the city centre.

Steven's photos definitely look like a female, but there are two reports of singing, so presumably we have a pair? Fingers crossed for successful breeding this year...

Black Redstart singing from back of Bootle Street old police station just across from Albert Square at 10.45am.
I was delivering to the back of the new Rudy's Pizza, I couldn't locate the bird though as the yard to the old police station is currently closed and under development so visibility to any open rooftops there is limited.

Again singing along Parsonage this morning in the rain

Hi Rob,
would you say it's coming from around the St.Mary's Parsonage end of Parsonage or Ramada (Blackfriars) Hotel end?
Cheers

Heard singing yesterday morning (roughly 8.30) when I was waiting for a train at Oxford Road station; I was stood on platform 2, and the sound came from some way in front of me, though I had no time to try to locate further, as my train turned up less than a minute after I heard it.

Black Redstart was singing somewhere between Lincoln Square and Queen St near the Lincoln Statue approx 12.50pm and only briefly for a minute or so.

It's played its dirty trick on me again, I've put my wagon on break ready to go and look for it but it's stopped singing, and the only birds to be heard and seen now are Goldfinches in full voice and a Blackbird that keeps throwing in a few notes.

Apologies I can't provide a more positive update than that!

wink

Yet again, as soon as I stop for a break the bird has stopped singing and probably relocated.

Black Redstart was singing near Leftbank in Spinningfields just off Bridge Street this morning approx 11.45am.

I could hear it whilst delivering to The Kitchens but unfortunately timed deliveries meant I couldn't hang around to try and locate him.

Singing male on Cross Street at about 815pm. Flew into Albert Square then on towards the Midland Hotel. I had wondered if it would head for the Town Hall, see the Peregrine thread for a possible reason why it didn't

Just to keep everyone updated...
Been delivering in town all morning and right near a few favoured locations but no sight or sound of a Black Redstart at all today.
Ducie House, Ducie St...approx 10am nothing
Town Hall / Princess St...approx 10.30am nothing
Town Hall towards library approx 11.30am nothing
Currently on break near St.Ann's Square and no sign near Rapha or Mr.Thomas's Chop House.

Seems a bit strange not to hear it at all, maybe it's got a sore throat!

Unfortunately not Adam, although I heard it again when I turned onto Cross St en-route to next delivery, and the singing seemed to be coming from around the back of Mr.Thomas's Chop House but no time to stop and locate it, I'm in city centre most days so there's time yet.
