I went to audenshaw reservoir today but found the fences had all been put back up, a dog walker mentioned that birders can get a key to gain access(audenshaw side). dose any one know where such a key might be obtained from. thanks

First time visit for me to this excellent Cumbria Wildlife Trust reserve to see the breeding Ospreys. The young are now fully able to fly and so the family of 2 adults and 3 young are ranging widely. Visited this site for the first time yesterday with Mike R and Ian.
Superb site, Turtle Dove calling, lots of Crossbill, 3 - 5 Common Buzzard but the jewel, two Honey Buzzard displaying for about 1- 15 minutes, with plenty of wing-clapping.
Then on to Bempton for the usual sea-birds at point blank...

1 Chiffchaff. Foraging silently in the trees with a small number of tits and a Goldcrest.
Also - 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming and c15 Goldfinch feeding on larch cones.
