Just seen this thread .... it's a Bream alright, probably struggling for oxygen in the heat.

That fish is 100% a common (bronze) bream.

I think its just the distortion caused by the viewing angle and the water - i think its just a Common Bream

Yesterday, whilst walking down the Rochdale Canal towpath, I spotted two fish, swimming close to the surface. The location was parallel to Whitworth Street. Can any angler identify them?
