On a recce for my Lips survey (Lapwings in Plots) I had Grey Partridge, Common Whitethroat, 1 f Wheatear and loads of Skylarks - only one Lapwing though. I'll do the survey proper early one morning next week.

I noticed some Black-headed Gulls had nested in a clump of Stinging Nettles - do birds get 'stung' in the same way as mammals ? Presumably Stinging Nettles evolved to deter grazing animals but the Gulls didn't seem bothere...

Another jaunt over Chat Moss this morning, this time with Pete Berry and although still no Quail we did manage 3 Yellow Wagtails showing well in the horse paddocks by Mosslands Farm, Field no. 18 and a single flying north over Woodstock Farm at the very bottom of Astley Road.
