Ian are you absolutely sure its 8 species and not 7. I can see seven species but then the last one is eluding me. I think I've found the one we're not supposed to be able to find, but then it could just be one of the 8 if you get my meaning. If it is, I've no chance...
5 Black tern at the private site i watch this eve. Flew off at 18.45.
My site list was only added today saying i had missed Black Tern on there!!

A storm passed over Bolton about 7pm. Just after it passed there was about 30-40 Swifts screaming over my house. Forced together by the storm i presume. Fantastic sight. They quickly dispersed. Back to the usual 8 or so now.

Moses Gate.C.P. Nuthatch in wooded Quarry behind cemetery, also 3 Pochard, 4 Tufted Duck, Common Tern, + Sedge Warbler on the canal at Prestolee. Shore Top. Teal, Little Grebe. Common Tern, 2 Stock Dove, 3 Little Owl,10 Goldfinch,18 Linnet, 2 Reed Bunting.
An adult hobby was over the M602 at 12.15 today, close to the junction with the M60 (is this Worsley? - don't really know the area). A few house martins nearby - it may have been chasing these.

cracking views of 4 of the 5 eagle owls after a long wet trek. one of the youngsters was ripping into what looked like a rabbit. also 2 peregrines and a very vocal buzzard. saw a swift fly into its nest-cavity in a roof on the way up

Picked up a knackered kittiwake today just off mossely road M14 in colleage campus not quite an albatross but keep on looking you never know whats about.
