After PaulH mentioned this book in the girlie tick thread i decided to dig it out and read it again.
It sems not much has changed in the birding world since it was written. Apart from quality scopes and digital photography. Still a good and funny read.

Thinking of going out of the county tomorrow (risky of missing a Wilsons Phalarope i know) for the juvenile Long Tailed Skua that has been sat in a field all week near Nottingham, then heading back maybe via Blacktoft.

Some conservation work is scheduled for the islands at Rumworth Lodge on Sunday 7th October. This will include renovations to the cockle beds. There won't be many birds about.

40+ Pink-footed Geese flying south-east over the east side of the city centre at 5pm this evening.
Also peregrine flying east over St Peters Square, 3:30pm.
This could well be a little long winded, so stick with it....
There are sites within our county where information is currently witheld due to certain reasons, some valid and some less so but my question is, would you rather know of a, let's say a rarity, at a site you couldn't have access to or not

we went on the liver cruise today at liverpool
bit eventful as we got out in to the mouth of the estuary
and the sea got choppy some one fell and hurt themselves
and a few got a bit seasick so we had to go back and drop
them off at seacombe after this we went back out and saw 1 maybe 2 arctic skuas
up to 5 litll...

From Phil Martin: 2 Ravens on top of the Granada TV building were mobbed for 5-10 mins at 1800 hrs, Wednesday, by 3 Peregrines, which eventually gave up. The Ravens looked very settled.
