After a 'tour' of the Sefton coast today, imagine my surprise after calling into Crosby Marina and setting my scope up against the railings looking into Seaforth, when the very first bird I look at is an adult Roseate Tern Now I realise there had been one around afew weeks ago (no news since then though)...

Just back from a week holiday in Anglesey. Plenty of good birds - highlight was a very large Peregrine flying no more than 20 feet above my head at Southstack - there was no one else there at the time.

The Common Terns young are now flying around, which made them difficult to count. At least 5 or 6 maybe more coming and going to the rafts. There was one very young still on one of the rafts. Looks like a good year which is great news.

Pete Berry and I had 6 Ravens (a family group) flying south low from over the railway onto Croxdens Peat Works on Chat Moss this morning. They wandered around the bare peat for afew minutes before flying on again.
14 Black tailed Godwits ,over, flying north west to south east at 9am, also Oystercatcher, Redshank, Kingfisher, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 6 Sedge Warbler, 4 Reed Warbler, 3 Blackcap, Garden Warbler near New hide, 8 Common Whitethroat + 2 Linnets from Teal hide.
