Does this bird actually exist?, probably as other people admit to seeing it. Now I'm not bothered about seeing one, but a frustrated builder(birder I know)would really like to see one this weekend. I've been forced, against my own free will, to visit Moore nature reserve for the last two weekends, on...
Checked out Tyldesley Cemetery Rookery this afternoon.
23 nest occupied. Not sure if this Rookery already been posted.
Great entertainment watching the rooks stealing twigs from each others nest.
Cheers Ian.
I am pleased to announce that we fitted a Peregrine nest tray to the N side of the clock tower yesterday (facing Packer Street). It is on the balcony but can be seen with bins from the parking area, through the spaces in the balustrade. I would imagine there could be good views from the hillside nearby whe...

Had the female Lesser Spotted Woodpecker again late this afternoon.
Flew across my path giving cracking views for 15-20 mins.

Again between 1500-1700hrs, sadly still no male to be seen, yet!
Cheers Ian

My mounting plate shoe bit on my scope has lost a bolt, well some time ago now, but i have only just got round to trying to sort it out!
Its not the big bolt which you can screw back with a coin, but a smaller one around 5-6mm diameter. Anyone know any optical shops that sell them,...

Dear All,
A Large area of Heaton Park is under threat from the development of a sports facility by a private firm. Heaton Park is a Grade II Listed Public Park, yet little effort appears to have been made in consulting the tax paying public, users of the park or those that record the natural history wit...

Just returned from Etherow Country Park where at 3.15, unbelievably, a swift started to hawk over the water of Compstall mill lodges. I watched it for the next 15 minutes when it was almost continually in sight at ranges down to about 30 meters. I was waiting for it to drop low enough to be able to pick out...
Been laughing out loud recently reading Bill's and now Geoff's posts containing more and more imaginative use of emoticons. Love it. Waiting to see which of the gentlemen will be first to compose a complete post containing emoticons only!, is there an emoticon for "king of the emoticons?&quo...

Have been trying to keep it a secret but I just can't hold it in any longer - I love Fairburn Ings! Have spent many, many happy times here over recent years - I am really, really surprised nobody else seems to have mentioned it on the "Out of County" forum before!
