friday Dec 11th. in the garden Blue tit 30+,Great tit 13,Coal tit 8,willow tit 3 numerous chaffinch and 4 Brambling(managed a few photos). Also stubble field school lane-few siskin,Bullfinch 50+Goldfinch, Chaffinch 100+ and 3 (more)Brambling. also yesterday Barn owl.

Patch - Chiffchaff - gave a few bursts of quiet song 47 Pink Footed Geese Over 6 Bullfinch in small flock
Found a second very rare fungus - Clavicorona taxophila, also new for Lancs am sending a specimen of this and the Arrhenia for microscopy and confirmation
Oct 18th...pinkfooted geese 78+210+3,200+22+40+300 all east/south east and 80+11+20 south west from north east. Also siskin 7 west,meadow pipit 11 south, chaffinch 18 south,pied wagtail 5 south,wood pigeon 1,000+ south and 200+ on fields, field fare 60 south 22 northeast,redwing 38 west,53 east and 329 south. And one whooper swan east/southeast(only the 6th time i have seen them over the village. The pinkfeet breaking early this year didnt see this movement at this time last year,but still not as many as 15 years ago when we had 20,000+ birds moving east.
Friday oct 16th. Lafford/school lane. 6:45-9:10am. Fieldfare 12 (SE)/3(W)/11(N) and 5 on farmland. Jackdaw 116 on stubble fields,Jay 11 to and from school lane to the golf course,Chaffinch 14(S),Greenfinch 10(S),Wood pigeon 300+ on farmland and 70 (S), Mistle thrush 5 (N)/ 3 in gardens,meadow pipit 4 (S), Pied wagtail 3,Skylark 1, and Swallow 1 (S),Blackheaded gull 12 (E),Brambling (E),Redpoll 1 (S). And Redwing 18(W)/154 (S)/ and 354 (E). Also in the garden Coal tit 11 and fields/gardens Blackbirds 16. Siskin m-1/f-1 edge of the golf course.

Thursday oct 15th..(7:05-8 am). Over lafford lane/ corner of school lane. Sort of dove tailing phils sightings,showing movement on a wide corridor. Wood pigeons 300/greenfinch 12 meadow pipit 6/pied wagtail 2/chaffinch 14/fieldfare 183 and redwing 1,970 (all south)..shows the movement following the beacon ridge and the line of douglas valley. Also today siskin 4(west), c crossbill 2 (west) and song thrush 11 and mistle thrush 2 in gardens near walthew green.

Redwing 830 mostly E and SE much lighter than yesterday, smaller flocks, moving E rather than S, also yesterday morning lots of nocturnal passage was evident, not this morning yesterday movement was still going strong when I stopped watching a 9.35 (I think I would have recorded 4,000 - 5,000 yesterday if I'd started earlier and finished later), this morning pretty much stopped by 9.30

Thursday oct 1st.(7-7 45am). Knowles farm 2 Blackcap. Corner of Lafford lane looking north east..all on the move south...13 Piedwag tail; 45 Meadow pipits; redpoll 1;Greywag tail 1; Yellowhammer 4;Mistle thrush 1;House martin 1;Swallow 53. Flight northeast 4 C Buzzard. Numerous blue,great,coal tit and Goldcrest in trees along school/lafford lane. Flushed into flight west 11 linnet and south over walthew green 17 Chaffinch and 22 Greenfinch.
Sept 30th. Lafford lane ( 6 am) mainly on ploughed field pied wagtail 37 and 17 blackbird. Yesterday same area 15 Jays, 2 Grey wags; 13 pied wags and 6 meadow pipits. In the trees along the school lane 10 long tailed tit; 23 goldcrest ; 6 coal tit; 1 willow warbler(singing) and 6 skylark (south).
Sept 28th. Pm. Early afternoon House martin 49 (south); and flushed from stubble field opposite field being ploughed meadow pipit 213 with 17 pied wagtails,Grey wagtail 1. More distant along walthew green another 81 meadow pipits (total for today 448). From the corner of lafford lane/walthew green. C buzzard 4,sp hawk 2 and yellowhammer.

52 meadow Pipits s in 1 hour - I think the big 'mipit' day might have been yesterday, however far fewer Meadow Pipits have been passing overhead than is usual at this time of year
