Two great long distance migrants in Warrington today 2 Waxwing at Church street and I found the Adult Iceland Gull by Decathlon this morning that has returned as an adult to the area now for 6 Winters and it was great to see it back again ,I estimate this gull assuming its going back to Greenland to breed has done 24000 miles traveling back and too to Warrington from its Breeding area in the time I have been watching it ,I had it 2nd January 2013 the first time and saw it briefly on and off each winter up to last winter when it was ever present from Jan-May,so great to see her back :)

5 Waxwings were reported around Sainsbury's car park yesterday, and then later at Battersby Lane. Today 2 were present along Orchard Street, either at the junction with Church Street and then at the junction with School Brow
Huge flock of Redwings, fieldfare, mistle thrush, chaffinch, goldfinch using the st barnabus school field and nearby trees on collins st in warrington. Its quite a spectacle of urban birding. No waxwings tho!
quick scoot over to Milner street VW this morning in the hope of Waxwings was fruitless but in the vicinity were 200 Redwing and 100 Fieldfare feeding on the Berries around the site, and that normally bodes well for a few Waxwings to arrive, but they will have to hurry up as there are very few Berries left with many of the trees already stripped bare .
- adult Iceland Gull Finally located it on Tile Giant roof after we tried all the various locations it's been seen at previously. It didn't stay long though as it was flushed and driven off by a Lesser Black-backed Gull.
Not exactly Warrington town centre but a Kestrel hovering over field adjacent to Winwick Lane as you approach roundabout for M6 at around 10am this morning - dry but breezy, 10 degrees centigrade. Buzzard over field south of M62 and a few hundred metres east of IKEA.
The Adult Iceland gull I found early in the winter was still present today ,seen several times between the new Aldi and Matalan via the College area along Winwick road last seen at 3.30 pm on Matalan's roof :)
Adult Iceland Gull was seen again flying round the college around 1:30pm, it was also seen landing with other large gulls on the Linde Stirling roof opposite.
Also, a Raven flew NW over Padgate Lane, close to St Oswald's Church around 2:30pm - picked up by its cronking.

Bit of a surreal moment at Tesco early this morning, just having a coffee before shopping ,looked out of the Café window and a Pristine Adult Iceland Gull flew past the window 10 feet away and went onto the roof,2 mins later it was flying round again and back on the roof. This bird I have seen on and off through the winter usually by the collage or Decathlon, but finally to see it close was nice, shame no camera. Later when I was driving past Decathlon ,it was sat on top of one of the streetlights ,then flew off and landed on the grass area by the entrance to the collage ,so anyone in the area ,its worth a look,my guess is its roosting on either Tesco's Roof or the Asda Warehouse opposite. I have also seen it in brief views when driving pat on the Grass area opposite the Alban retail park.
Although strictly not in Warrington but this was the closest description I could find, went to Walton gardens with the kids today saw a sparrowhawk over head and 2 ring neck parakeets flying over. Not sure if they were escapees from the aviary section of the park or what but I know that "wild ones"are expanding their range.

Aileen and I had a walk around Paddington Meadows this morning, highlights included a singing Cetti's Warbler at the Greymist end and a reeling Grasshopper Warbler at the western end.
I called in to Warrington Collegiate on Long Lane, while we were in the car park there was an adult Iceland Gull on the lawn in front of the reception, it was with a few other gulls including a first winter Herring, when some of the students threw some bread down it was the only gull not to go for it although it did fly around a little. I managed a couple of extremely poor photos through the car windscreen
Up to c100 Waxwings at Milner Street this morning, with around 30 each of Redwing and Fieldfare also present
same up to 3pm , not many berries left and most were heading across the road to Honda Garage were there are 3 decent trees full of berries left ,Redwing were up to around the 100 mark or more passing through and a sparrowhawk was seen twice.
