Alternatively will consider a camera upgrade and lens bundle. Open to offers and demonstrations for the right specs. Please se...

Myself and my wife found another Yellow-browed Warbler yesterday at Toddbrook Res, given that I was birding rather than rushing to teach undergrads I was better prepared this time - photos and sound recordings here: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S32042772 cheers Alex
Steppe Grey Shrike - in Shropshire Lift offered for Thursday 3rd November, leaving Wigan (sorry, cannot pick up), to be on site at dawn. Phone 07887706847 or PM me on here if interested. Cheers.
Otherwise know an 'Happy Valley'. An underwatched area apparently as I can't find this as a previous topic. Lots of dog walkers this morning. All the expected warblers plus a Sedge Warbler, which was singing approx 400 yards from Womanscroft Bridge. Cheers, John

Just back from a 14 night non birding holiday in North America, primarily Alaska. We first had a one night stay in Vancouver before embarking the NCL vessel, Norwegian Sea for 7 nights, calling at Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan, then making our way back to Vancouver. The ship then sailed down the Pacif...
Just returned from a trip to Islay. Barnacle geese everywhere and we went cross-eyed trying to find the Richardsons that is still present (apparently!). Fewer numbers of Greenland Whitefronts were dotted around and it was nice to see a small party of Pale-bellied Brents on the shores of Loch Indaal...
I was walking along the canal towpath this afternoon and got talking to a guy who said he had found the Pale phase Buzzard on the ground below Woos Nab Farm, Daisyfield. At first he thought it was dead but upon closer inspection he found it was still alive. He took it to Greenmount Bird Sanctuary where the...

I have had contact from a good friend, who is a birder, about her pet parrot. She was cleaning her African Grey out over the weekend when the bird was startled by a loud bang and escaped. The parrot was subsequently seen again but a group of children inadvertently scared her away. As I say she is an African...
Had a couple of hours until dusk at this fantastic reserve.
There was the reported Lesser Scaup today but what really got me was the fantastic habitat with many lakes, ditches and a mix of woodland and moss type areas. I also found a flock of Redpolls [Lesser and Mealy] but the light was too far gone to c...

I haven't been down to see the High Rid White-winged Black Tern but have been very interested in studying the rather educational photos posted by observers on site; culminating in Colin Davis's excellent flight shot of the culprit ( flying left ) today. This bird obviously doesn't know it should not...

Spent five amazing days walking in the Berner Oberland last week/weekend based at Grindlewald. The priority was the walkiing, using the (eyewateringly expensive!) gondola and rail uplift to get high. Fantastic walking of great variety. Birding highlights were: 1. The sheer number of Black Reds...

The latest piece of duff gen on Birdguides takes the biscuit - a White Stork 'reidentified from photos as a Grey Heron'. Hot on the heels of the 'Greenish Warbler' that was in fact a Chiffchaff also 'identified from photos'. Whilst the new British Birds ID photo guide is great it's otherwise all gone wr...
In the middle of planning an eight day trip to Spain in early May next year. Loose itinery is to fly in to Madrid, spend two to three days around Monfrague, then travel down to Donana for two to three days there and wind things up with a couple of days around Tarifa/Gib. Fly back from Malaga.

My son is studying breeding Kittiwakes in Newcastle as part of his degree and is looking for a scope & tripod, ideally on a short term loan, to rent or maybe buy. Anyone got one sitting around in the loft? I would personally indemnify against loss or damage in the case of a loan.
We have run this offer before, but again in 2016 we have decided to help local birders buy from their local outlet. We will always be here for the little things, like a free optics clean or an in shop repair, as long as our great customers keep on supporting us. Thanks to all Since we cannot exhibit at the Bi...

Andy Roadhouse - Spurn Regular and Assistant Warden for many years - has finally had his book, Birds of Spurn, published. I collected mine at the launch event yesterday and have only had chance for a quick skim through but it is, frankly, brilliant. If you've ever been then I'd recommend getting your h...
