To Messers Mckerchar & Adderley,
I am catagorically stating right here, right now, make no mistake, I am NOT doing a yearlist this year ! No amount of cajoling from either of you will work.
Macker, don`t even think of replying to this !

As I am compiling a County year list this year, I was wondering if anyone knows of any places to see Lessers. Hi all, I have just been sitting in the living room reading, when I thought I heard a Pinkfoot outside I chose to ignore it thinking it was my imagination running wild. However about 3 minutes after that I heard another one, so I jumped up out of the chair and ran into the front garden. It wasn't my ima...
Pete Berry and I ventured out onto Chat Moss, albeit rather briefly today and the first large stubble field on your right (heading south) past Olive Tree Farm (which is the one after the one with a canal barge outside!) looked especially promising with a large flock of over 300 Linnets, large numbers o...
Steve Collins had 2 Pink-footed Geese 'paddling' around Horrock's Flash yesterday whilst he was catching up with the Smew (still present). 'Downed' birds aren't that common, so has anyone else seen these birds before this date (or even today perhaps?). (Thanks Stev...
Again on Pearson's Flash today. Some Blackburn birders told me they couldn't find the Smew, but didn't go myself as too busy with the media! (see birding discussion page)
I am scheduled to do an interview tomorrow about Ruddy Ducks on BBC NW Tonight - the interview is to be recorded earlier in the day but I suppose they will show it in the evening. Apparently the RSPB NW office have refused to appear - presumably as they can't defend their stance! I did one today with B...

For anyone reading this before leaving work/home, the M60 was closed between junctions 10 & 11 over the ship canal at 3pm. I saw a toppled lorry and the tailbacks were horrific in both directions. Also a fallen tree in Northenden had totally blocked Palatine Road. -- Edited by Ian McKerchar at 19:30, 2...
Just a quick note to those already 'competing' in the Tournament and to those who may be thinking of, but Ian Woosey has just donated a brand new, unread copy of Ian Wallace's superb new book 'Beguiled by Birds' as a prize for the winner at the end of the year . Cheers Ian! Details ca...
