Been collecting for years and hate to throw away. Excellent condition except for a few early issues of Bird Watching showing a little fading around the edges from sunlight and age. Although now out of date, lots of site guides and ID articles will be of interest. Bird Watching - March 1986 (First Issue...
I expected poor results from our Tawny Owl breeding programme this year, due to the bad weather over winter.
The results are much better than anticipated. This year I have 23 pair with 30 young so far. There's still 5 boxes I need to revisit in order to check the status of eggs / young.
I have had 2 pair...
Just bought a new scope second hand for £50. Its a vanguard VSP 85. 80mm 20x-80x bought because the (opicron?) I had years ago broke, and I never replaced it & until I can afford a decent make I wanted something that would do the job. Ive looked around for reviews and comments on the scope but cant seem...

Dear all, Newbie looking for a bit of advice... I'm wanting to buy a telescope, but the prices I've seen people quoting have scared the bejesus out of me. Are there any decent budget range / beginner-type scopes people would recommend? A couple of hundred quid is about as far as I could stretch at the min...
Whilst walking through Mere Clough in Prestwich early this morning, heard a Cuckoo singing from somewhere in Phillips Park.[By the way,it definitely wasn't a Collared Dove,of which there were quite a few about aswell!] Has anyone else heard,or better still, seen the bird?

Manchester Birding fully supports the charity BirdLife International and with it their amazing new initiative called Ghosts of Gone Birds. A whole bunch of big name artists, musicians, poets and writers are getting together to raise awareness and money for BirdLife International's Preventin...
As is generally the case up in Shetland, a day rarely goes by without an Otter sighting. On this particular day this individual was my third and without doubt my best encounter. Pictures and a HD video can be found here. Enjoy. cheers...
As above I have an Opticron BC-2 Hide Clamp in just about as new condition - these days I don't use a scope as I use bins and my camera so bean bags are my choice in hides... This is the more expensive Opticron clamp and the centre column with the panning head with quick release plate. More than happy for anyo...
I have an Apple PowerMac G4 loaded with very well known software for graphic design so would be perfect for editting and photos. It's in great condition and has good processor speed and memory (more detailed technical specification can be supplied if required). I'd be willing to do a straight swap wi...
Plus 20 WA eyepiece and stay on cover. It's well lived in, but optically great. There are some visible marks in the objective lens coatings but I don't think that they affect its performance at all. Includes stay on case. It's a great scope for birding and being the APO version great for digiscoping too...
In response to Ian's (note the use of the apostrophe) posting (copied below) I thought I'd move the discussion to a more appropriate place. I would agree with almost everything Ian says, but not " the dreaded elitist BTO codes". It's not the codes that are elitist, it's those who use them in...
What would be the best book to get for the identification of british and migrant warblers? Specifically with pictures (preferably photos) of the birds flying away, as this seems to be the view I get of them more often than not!
