An excellent day had by all at the Open Day today. Plenty of visitors and the weather stayed fine until late afternoon. A very high tide brought plenty of ducks and waders up onto the reserve lagoons and a Peregrine and a Kingfisher were also seen. Elsewhere on the reserve a Spotted Redshank was seen and 12 Twite were at the West Hide, the start of a large flock hopefully like the 60+ seen there last winter

The private, member only, Deeside Naturalists Trust Nature Reserve at Connah's Quay is holding its annual Open Day on Saturday Oct 11th this year. This offers a unique oportunity to visit the site, look around the several hides overlooking the river & mudflats from the Welsh side opposite the Burton/Parkgate Marshes area on the Cheshire side. The reserve will be open for all visitors from 10am until 3pm. There are also several attractions in the main visitor centre including refeshments and I will be attending as usual as the Focalpoint Optics representative with several binoculars & telescopes for demonstration and for sale.
If anyone has any specific requests for particular makes & models that they want to look at then just let me know & I will do my best to bring them along. Just send me a PM and I will PM back to let you know whether it will be possible on the day
I look forward to seeing Forum Members there, please pop along & make yourself known
