must have been using my fieldcraft and blending in with the backgroundor maybe you saw me and just thowt ,who's that twillock heading my way in his shorts in the rainill better get out of here, before he bends my ear for 2 hours
Well they weren't empty this morning John when 3 Little Egrets were there and some birders shun the hides don't forget
done 3 days and apart from charlie seen no-one-must have been a lucky weekend for me-missed the egrets though as usualnever mind ive seen enuff of them
seemed to be very little adverse affect of the iron man swim earlier in the morning, the wildlife at penny has over the years adapted to disturbance, and I perposefully left my visit until after the race, just to see if it had affected anything, but apart from the mute swans being spread a bit more around the flash, everything seemed back to normal, and the organisation seemed to be very good, with all the extra stuff that had been strung across the flash to guide the swimmers, big yellow infalatable bouys, etc had all been removed and packed away by 12 when i arrived. Maybe im just getting old,and a bit more mellow, but these sort of things don't bother me as much as they did in the past, maybe its like Spok said in star trek, The needs of the many(the general public) far outweigh the needs of the few(birders on penny and at the moment and believe me there a very few birders at penny at the moment,in fact ive been in empty hides all weekend) or the one -(Me)

Can they not cycle 112 miles first, then swim somewhere else? The sea preferably
strange as theres signs round the flash telling everyone that if they swim in the flash it could be deadly due to the algeabet rammies will be packed wi duck that day
Sunday 1st August will see 1400 people swimming Pennington Flash (blue-green algae permitting) as part of an 'Iron Man' event. This leisurely pursuit also includes a cycle of 112 miles, followed by a marathon!!
While that lot are dipping their toes int flash it could be an opportunity for good wildfowl counts on other nearby waters...
