4 Redwing over. the garden this morning, and a small movement of Meadow Pipit.
A lone lark sp flew west over the garden low mid-afternoon, presumably a Skylark but it was low and looked small - guess it was just a small low Skylark!

29/07/2010 - Strangely quiet on KGV pool today. Didn't get a chance to check out Stamford Park to see if the birds had flown over though. No Coots or Tufties and I'm still mourning the moving on of the resident Pochards!
female Tufted Duck 4 GC Grebes (2 ads, 2 juvs) 1 ad has a small amount of fishing line stuck to it's beak 25 Canada Geese 2 Coot (1 juv) 1 ad Grey Heron 1 GS Woodpecker
also, a Kingfisher briefly on the pool by the Bridgewater Canal (known as Wetlands near Balfour Road & Timperley Nature Reserve)

Note: info from fisherman: 105 carp were lost this winter at the site, due to freezing weather, therefore this site is not being used much by fishermen (perhaps 50 out of 60 permit holders have left the fishing club)

Late news of a Firecrest on 24th April in Moss Lane, Timperley. Thanks to Peter Day for the information.
Wow that's a fantastic sighting. I'd love to know, was it in a private garden? Or the hedges round Pickering Lodge perhaps? Cheers.

First House Martin over the garden this morning, three more Swift over this afternoon - never seen Swift before 30th april over garden....oh, and yes, I'll update my member info!
Hi Maka. My local Tawnies have gone strangely quite just down the road from you in Hale Barns. Not heard a peep from them in 2010. Not sure why but this cold might have something to do with it.
Henry perhaps it is because all territories have been claimed and mates selected.
cheers for the info . think like you said the cold weather has a lot to do with it . thought you might like to know , although not local but non the less interesting , i have just returned from a few days away in a place called garthmyl , just near welshpool where my family and i were wittness to 15 buzzards in one large field , i have never seen anything like it . cheers

hello all , new to the sight so its good to be hear. i live in timperley just off park road backing on to the railway line, i used to see and hear tawny owls at least once a week but not heard one for ages, is it time of year or has anyone else seen or heard . thanks
About 2:30 a male merlin hurtled over the garden haeding roughly in Henry's direction - my first for the garden and means I now have all 4 UK falcons on the garden list, but still rarely see a House Sparrow despite a colony 3 doors away....
Henry - It's pure white with paler legs than normal. Very distinctive especially when it flies as it's wings are completely bright white - just like an adult Med Gull.
Just outside Timperley, a Peregrine was harassing the bus station pigeons in Altrincham Town Centre at 9:00 this morning. It flew off roughly NE towards Timperley.
01/02/2010 - I searched a good stretch of Timperley Brook today as part of my late winter tetrad submission for the Bird Atlas but no sign of the Little Egret report a week ago now. 2 Snipes, 3 Grey Herons (one attempting to dispatch a frozen frog), 1 Fieldfare, 1 Pied Wagtail, 1 Kestrel and 2 Buzzards were also seen around the area of Green Lane and Clay Lane.
1 Leucistic BH Gull with normal BH Gulls and a few Common Gulls in the grounds of Altrincham College of Arts at 11.45am today. I initially saw it flying round and thought it was a Med Gull until it landed. The bird is bright white - much whiter than the normal BH's with pure white wings. It also has paler legs than usual.
