KGV - Lap of pool and surrounding areas at 11am:

2 Willow Warblers - singing but probably not going to set up home

3 Great Spotted Woodpeckers - including 2 males having a stand-off

4 Grey Wagtails - 2 pairs, 1 along the brook further upstream by the golf course

sadly no Grebes or Pochards on the lake

Thursday 17th March, King George 5th pool, 12.15 to 12.45pm:

Mute swan 2 (one with metal ring on left leg - z y 0324 on right leg blue plastic ring - FX 4 ).
Treecreeper 1
Tufted Duck 8
Pochard 1
Black-headed Gull 10
Grey Wagtail 1
Moorhen 5
And a male Chaffinch walking around a reflective tin box giving it some aggro!

14/01/2011 - Quick walk around Timperley Wetlands (off Balfour Road) and adjacent Bridgewater Canal this morning. Species seen included:

1 Snipe
1 Moorhen
4 Canada Geese
16 Mallards
2 Common Gulls
1 Grey Wagtail
1 Treecreeper
5 Bullfinches
4 Lesser Redpolls (one rather pale and bulky but only silhouetted views obtained)
1 Reed Bunting

Also with the milder weather many Mistle Thrushes, Song Thrushes, Robins, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Coal Tits, Greenfinches, Dunnocks and all Pigeon species singing.
