Yet another pointless developement threatens to destroy more of our green spaces and in this particular instance some very important wildlife habitat and wildlife corridor. The proposed 'North Leigh' development will consist of a new road (to run alongside a perfectly good old one), an industri...
A fox lopped past me at 1130 this morning, it was that close (and apparently unperturbed) for a split second a thought it was a dog ! Nice to see as they have been persecuted here in the past.

In a little over three years, counting just from May 2015, Manchester has done really well for heron enthusiasts, with six species gracing the county. Of these Little Egret is firmly established as a species to be recorded as a matter of routine. One wonders if Cattle Egret will follow in its wake? - (I...

It is an ultra-cheap option for anyone who wants a small travel scope, probably a an addition to a larger scope. This one is again angled, has a 20x f...
We Three saw 3 dippers on the river. One on it's own, and then at a waterfall/dam we watched two feeding young from the river to a hole in the dam bank.
Must have been serious as there were also 3 very large lenses in front of 3 men who looked settled for the day taking pictures.

Having never been to South America, I was a little daunted to tackle a whole new avifauna among the diverse priorities of a family holiday (taking advantage of Stockport's 2-week spring half term) and only English and GCSE French with which to bluff our way through a Portuguese-speaking country. Ho...
On a two week holiday based in Alanya at the Monart City Hotel from 8th to 22nd May. I got out each morning early before 6.30am and usually found something of interest. I often walked along the promenade early but the species were limited as Alanya is a large city. I also visited Dim Cayi ( a dam at the head o...
This area is better known to insect watchers but whilst down here I always keep an eye on the avian life.
