Thought i'd read up about Green Winged Teal. It doesn't seem to be in any of my field guides.
Thought it would be in the Collins but no. Unless i've missed it somewhere.

Quick visit today to check out the Smew which was a lifer for me.
The redhead hung out at the north end of the main mere but flew off when a kestrel flew nearby across the water. I didn't see the Smew land but it went south over the water and presumed it landed out of view.

Have received a report of a female Scaup at Blackleach Resr Dec 30th, seen by 2 reliable observers, per voluntary warden. This is probably the bird displaced from Ringley sewage works by the ice in mid month.
