A Hobby flew west over Great Howarth at 08:30 hrs today. It was seen from my kitchen window as it flew over the roof tops. Probably the best bird I've ever seen from my house/garden! This is the 3rd year running that I've seen Hobby in the Rochdale area between late July and mid September.

The colour ringed Spoonbill found on the evening of Sat 5th July at Horrock's Flash, Wigan, only stayed until 1015hrs on Sunday 6th July.
It was re-located on Mon 7th July in South Wales on the Ogmore Estuary.
It has since been re-located further south and is now in Devon at Exminster Marshes RSPB....

Called over to Dunham Massey with the wife and kids yesterday and what a pleasant day we had. Made all the more enjoyable by a hobby making an appearance on a nearby tree for a few minutes.

2 weeks ago a pair of Wrens successfully fledged a family from a Great Tit nest box in my garden. I thought this unusual and Peter Johnson suggested I post this and ask if anyone else out there has experienced this or any other unusual wren(or any other bird) nest sites.

I've just noticed on Birdguides a report of a male Blue Headed Wagtail on Irlam Moss in horse paddocks in field 23 today.Apparently there were 3 fledged young with it.
