A great reserve based just off junction 25 of the M1. Extensive grounds/waters to cover with several well placed hides. You really could spend all day here and still not cover all the trails. As well as the flooded gravel pits the reserve lies next to the river Trent which is also accessible. Highlight...

It dropped down into a small tree nearby, and continued to flit between 2 or 3 trees for 5 minutes or so before flying out of sight. Howe...
Went looking for Moor Club today but was amazed to find only two small specimens! Heath Waxcap, Milking Bonnet and Earthy Powdercap were the only other things of note! Dave

Organised a trip with some birding friends to this Ramsar wetland and migration hotspot. Fantastic scenery, friendly people and probably the best European birding I've yet experienced. 163 species in six days plus the spectacle of tens of thousands of waterbirds and a really heavy visible migrat...
Organised a trip in November 2010 to combine birding with a life-long wish to see the elusive Iberian Lynx. The valley of the Rio Andujar, in Jaen Province (two and a half hours from Malaga) offers the only realistic chance of success. Well off the beaten track, the scenery is glorious and the full comp...
