As many of you will be aware, Wigan Council passed the decision of their Cabinet to allow DEFRA to shoot the 100+ Ruddy Duck on Pearson's Flash.

Andre Farrar, the RSPB's PR Manager, is booked to give a talk at Wigan RSPB on Tuesday March 13th at 7:30pm (they meet at the Youth Services building on Penson St, Swinley (right off the A49 after the Riverway junction as you leave the town centre).

Andre is expecting some flak about this, so I suggest we give him some! It was clear to me at the Wigan council's Overview & Scrutiny Committee that they were being guided by the decision of the RSPB to back the cull, which was all very well back in the 1990s, but as we know, things have radically changed since then. I for one have cancelled my membership of the the Lancashire Wildlife Trust and will be doing the same re WWT in protest about this.
