This evening, juvenile Black Tern and adult Common Tern, 3 Great White Egrets, 3 Little Egrets, 131 Herring Gulls, 2 Great Black-backed Gulls and 56 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, also a single Wigeon.

5 Wigeon, 3 off the car park and at 07:45 two drakes flew in from the west and dropped into East Bay

From first light this morning:

60 Pink-footed Geese flew over NW and 21 flew west

8 Wigeon flew in from the east at 07:30 and appeared to drop into the western end but could not be relocated later on

196 Tufted Duck but a lot of disturbance later on for some reason 

7 Little Egrets with 6 together on the southern shore at first light

2+ Great White Egrets

12 Snipe, with 2 flying down into the Ramsdales area from the west and then two flocks of 7 and 3 heading over west

368 Meadow Pipits flew over the ruck heading south in small flocks and ones and twos up to 08:30

This morning from first light:

3 skeins of Pink-footed Geese over, with 17 low west at 07:45, 22 west at 08:30 and 4 east at 08:40

3 Wigeon dropped in at 08:33 but flew off west 2 minutes later

3 Great White Egrets, all around the spit/mini spit at one stage and which included the long staying red-ringed bird

7+ Little Egrets, all highly mobile as the morning drew on and presumably included a bird which was sat atop a large tree south of the sailing club towards mid-morning

This evening, the red-ringed Great White Egret was at the western end but then flew off SE. Also present, adult Common Tern, Little Egret, 18 Swallows, 1 Sand Martin SW and 5 Pink-footed Geese flew in at 7:31pm resting off the car park.

This morning, common tern still at the western end also great white egret here. At least one little egret in Ramsdales.

All hides still locked at 9am when I left, apparently opening the hides in a "Nature reserve" is low on the priority list.

Leach's Petrel showed well for me for about an half hour or so, up to 12.23 pm  . record shot attached 

Initially seen earlier than me by Gordon Newman great find , then after a text letting me know there was likely a petrel on I mooched back to Horrocks hide as I had been counting birds in the north bank pools and picked the Leach's up being chased around the east bay by gulls .

Single common tern still present this morning, 3 little egrets and a wigeon at Tom Edmondson hide were best.

Early to mid-afternoon today:

2 Little Egrets

Probably 2 Hobby, with what looked like a juvenile over the western end at 15:04 which quickly moved to over the ruck and put on a good show until around 15:17 soaring and occasionally rapidly stooping down low, presumably to catch dragonflies. Then at 15:35, an adult flashed east, quite low, across Ramsdales.

8+ Swallows south in ones and twos

22 Chiffchaffs across the ruck and the nature reserve area

1 Raven flew south at 15:07

From first light, in what was unforecast rain:

172 Tufted Duck, though many flew off NW when disturbed by a canoeist

3 Little Egrets

1 adult Great Black-backed Gull loafing

Also this morning, 1 adult common tern, 2 little egrets, 34 shoveler mainly on Teal scrape and 1 wigeon from Tom Edmondson hide.

A Hobby was perched in trees at the western end late afternoon today.

Also mid morning a flock of 15 Goosander fem/1st W landed stayed 5 mins then left east pic attached

For the sake of accuracy, it appears that the little gull that I saw early morning was actually a juvenile, or at least it still had some juvenile plumage with black markings on the hind neck.
