My county list is about 125 and I have never found anything in the county as unusual as a Smew Geoff.
Looking at my records for the last 2 years I would have had 2 pts and 5 pts. Think I am going to have to knuckle down to avoid the wooden spoon. What are other people predicting to get in the competition?

ok the verdicts in county list 71,life list 100 Don,t laugh only started birding in 2006 and have wasted a lot of it chasing an horrocks flash bittern (mythical beast) and i have  omitted huge chuncks of confuseables,it,s a learing curve i,m on, but all that aside this is turning out to be very interesting. So watch out woosey I,ll have you .

Crikey ! You guys are getting me intrigued now. I've never kept a County list, nor had any interest in doing so. I've probably amassed quite a few 'odds an sods' over the years and equally missing quite a few 'tarts' and County goodies, either through sheer apathy or long spells birding in Asia. Reckon it'll take me quite some time to string it together. I might have a go. I might even let you know what it is !.

I think 170's a good target, given that it is achievable in a year with more than a little hard work. Of course, like Tony rightly says, much is reliant on being at the right place at the right time but one can atleast attempt to predict where to be a little by reading through the past county reports, picking up on patterns of occurances and visiting afew sites at likely times and hopefully this forum might assist in boosting all our lists, if that's your bag of course

How low can you go ?

I've twitched birds like Whiskered Tern and Black-faced Bunting, but not seen relatively common ones like Arctic Tern, Greenshank or Common Scoter. I guess it's just a case of being at the right place at the right time.

What do people think is a good target - 150 - 170 ?

Well put Ian. It is only lighthearted fun after all ( FLAMIN` `ECK Jimmy, I didn`t want that much competition ! ! )
Seriously though, I would like to assure people that I`m only interested in the birds themselves and getting out there and watching the BEAUTIES !

Hi all,

I'm glad Ian has attempted to coax the lists out of other birders as he did originally 'donate' his own county life list to me in order to make others feel as atleast theirs wasn't the lowest on the page, of course, with Ian now hell bent on surging up that list he won't be languishing at the bottom for long either way!

All the lists I've put on are only there for fun and hopefully to promote a little more of a 'community' feel to the birding in our county, so I'd appreciate if anyone posting their lists could also send them to me privately (on my email), with any particularly 'good' species or birds they need etc (have a look at the 'listing' page on the site to give you an idea of what I include). There is absolutely no limit to 'how low it can go' , as I fully appreciate any and all lists provided, it may also give you that extra incentive to get out there and change your position, it worked for Mr.Woosey as there's no stopping him now- nobody's safe!

OK - I always like to do what I can to make people feel happy. I don't keep lists, but it wasn't too difficult to do a quick tot up. My Greater Manchester list is round about 130. But I did find them all myself, and I rarely go west of the city centre, and...    oh, why am I making all these excuses? I'm not ashamed.

Greetings

May I draw your attention to the County Life List page on the main web-site. You will notice that I am currently languishing at the bottom. It`s quite lonely down there. Will somebody else please submit their list to give me a bit of ( friendly ) competition ? I know a couple of you are doing Year Lists so get on theer ! ( they all add up ! )

Ian
