Wild Birds General Licence to Kill

Seemed like the best place to post. Changes in licensing with regards to the culling of Herring & Lesser black-backed Gulls.

There doesn't appear to be a thread on here regarding Wild Justice's campaign to challenge the legality of the General Licence issued by DEFRA which allowed any landowner to kill or take certain species of wild birds to prevent "serious damage to livestock, foodstuffs for livestock, crops, vegetables, fruit, growing fisheries or inland water."

Anyway, if you would like to do some background reading on this highly contentious topic there is the Wild Justice website and also the Lawyers Leigh Day acting on their behalf Landmark Victory for UK Wildlife

Defra have now issued a consultation Wild Birds General Licence Survey which gives you the chance to have your say. I expect most responses to this will be from landowners who wish to see the General Licence reinstated. It is widely used by Grouse Moor owners to justify their control activities.
