The Reserve lies within my original map number 38....when on site the Reserve has information boards and direction signposts.

When I first created the map numbers it was to be only for my use as a way to narrow down my sightings for conservation reasons ...but later the recorder wanted a copy thus giving the then recorder an idea of where my bird records occurred...this was quite a random collection and Field number 38 was but a bare peat desert...although in the eighties it had been a wonderful mix of purple moor grass and a scatttering of birch...it had a woodland in the northwest still shown as pigeon wood....on the OS map...

my idea of numbering occurred to me in the late nineties as I could foresee such as the GMSF coming along and starting a move to destroy areas of Chat moss....FN 55...49...50..25..26...27..29..30..34..40 and 41 are now within the GMSF proposals for building on the mosss...I could go on....

Hi again Nige. The Chat Moss field numbers map is a bit farther down the site guide page www.manchesterbirding.com/uploads/9/7/5/1/97513866/chatmossfieldmap.pdf

Not sure about the Little Woolden guide - If all else fails you can get more info from the Lancashire WT page here www.lancswt.org.uk/nature-reserves/cadishead-little-woolden-moss or a quick internet search will throw up a few results.

Hi guys,

Sorry for another post but was just looking through some of the site guides (very informative!).

I noticed on the 'Chat Moss' site guide it mentions a Field Numbers Map was produced and is on the site, but I couldn't find this anywhere.  Could someone point me in the right direction please?

It also mentions that Little Woolden Moss has it's own site guide on the site but I couldn't find this either.  Am hoping to pop there after work today so any info on that might be useful.

My Manchester bird list is only on 9 so hoping to ramp that up a bit today!
