Belting last two evenings on a dog walk along the loop path near Highfield CP, Levenshulme.

Sun 4th Sep.
- Sparrowhawk flew low and close to me through the woods putting up Woodpigeons, Blackbirds, a Robin, and a small party of Long-tailed Tits. I could hear House Martins overhead so they could well have seen it too.

Mon 5th Sep.
- Hobby large as life flew right over me near the Z bends at Longford Rd and Nelstrop Rd North. Mustve flown over secret lake and was heading towards Highfield CP and the A6.
- 14 House Martins were whizzing round close by, they seem to have done well breeding near the chimney tower on Sandfold Lane near secret lake.

Rob there is no need to suffer......"well known secret" in the fishing circles is that Avon Skin so Soft is a great insect repellent a very reasonable price and you end up with lovely silky smooth skin biggrin

Another one is white vinegar, tea tree oil and veg oil, I have the quantities somewhere blankstare or off course just some off the shelf  repellent.

Thanks Tony, Ive got some Deet spray left over so Ill use that for now rather than smear myself with oil.
wink

Thanks for that Simon.
I had an idea theyd be fairly local, yeah 4DBU was ringed there as one of a brood of 8.
Shame their breeding attempt didnt work out this year on the Secret Lake, maybe down to immaturity being their 1st time.
Cheers
