Hi Scott,
I went to Tiree earlier in the year. Beautiful place. Well it was in the summer ! It is corncrake capital of the UK. Give me some time to go back to my maps /logs and I will send you a personal message with more info. Try Parula @Tireebirder on Twitter and you soon get the idea of sites etc. I think he is the local RSPB warden so looking him up could be a great help.
Chris

Thank you both for your replys, done a bit of research myself! Probably should of done that in the first place! Just wanted to see if anybody had been before. I know it's good for Golden and White Tailed Eagles so will be looking out for them. And thanks for the info about the ferry Paul, something I'm looking forward to!!

Thanks again!!

Haven't stayed on Rum, but stayed on nearby Eigg in April- from what I've gathered Rum is better for White-tailed Eagles. On the way over saw a few Gannets and Guillemots. One thing there was plenty of on Eigg was Rock Pilots, so hope you get those on Rum too! Let us know how it went!

Stayed there about 12-15 years ago for a couple of days before I was a birder. Look out for dolphins on the (extremely scenic) ferry crossing. Should be some good seabirds on the crossing too - shearwaters, petrels etc but you know that already. Watch out for testosterone-fuelled stags! Awesome mountain scenery too. Will be smothered in deer ticks - although I believe they are less active in the cooler weather. You need a tick removal tool of some kind for sure and beware of any unexpected itchy "bites" in dark and sweaty places: ticks have a habit of crawling to the most inaccessible bits of you! Worth taking a mirror and a magnifier in case you're searching for a dark dot on a red pimple sometime! Otherwise..... enjoy!!
