The fungi guide by collins is the biggest let down in any field guide in history, if anyone can actually ID anything from that book from the pictures i would be amazed.
As Tim said Mushrooms by Roger Philips is the standard. If you are really serious you could get all 7 volumes of Fungi of Switzerland - a must have for fungi folk ğ.
Im going to be adding a guide to some of the fungi of GM to the Discover the Wild website soon which may also help in the future.
All the best
Dave
I use the Collins some of the time but then end up going to check the ID on the web (assuming whoever posted pics ha IDed correctly too!!). Fungi are one group that I find really hard to ID. If you find a fail-safe book please let me know too
Can anyone recommend a good book for Fungi please? I've heard mixed reports and reviews on the Collins guide which would seem the obvious choice. Just wondering if there are any others as quite often whilst out birding, I like to identify fungi too.
Cheers.
