It has just come up on Twitter that Martin Garner has passed away, he had terminal cancer.
Martin was a Gull expert and I think he was responsible for the first UK records of Caspian Gull over 20yrs ago, and was also involved with writing articles for the identification of Yellow-legged Gulls. He used to post, with the odd photo, the rare birds that dropped into his garden, not surprisingly living on the east coast in Flamborough. I've also got one of his Birding Frontiers books, the Challenge Series 'Autumn' edition.
