The Black Redstart showed exceptionally well this morning. I stood still, it approached me to 3 metres. Also 4 Greenfinches, many Meadow Pipits and at least 3 Stonechats.
1x Common snipe, 7x Black Grouse, 20x Meadow pipit from Shining Tor path near Cat & Fiddle. No sign of Black Redstart
I met up with birding mate Paul Hill yesterday (12th Oct) at 11am and the Black Redstart was sheltering in the tiny courtyard/storage area at the rear of the Cat & Fiddle Pub, viewed over the pub wall round the back. It briefly came into the Beer garden area too. The weather was horrendous, very thick, wetting mist, so thick that the mast could not be seen from the road. No wonder the bird had taken to this covered area. We showed a visisting Staffs birder where it was too as he had failed to find it up near the mast, whilst we were down at the pub. So the bird is still around but I am waiting for better weather before going back for seconds!!

Thanks Doc, went up again this evening and managed to spot it whilst sitting in the beer garden! Got decent views of it between the storage area and the fenced-off area round the back.

Black Redstart at the Cat & Fiddle pub (not far from the Shining Tor path). Good views of this bird (I'm told it's an immature or a female) at the back of the phone mast or occasionally on the roof of the pub buildings.
Managed to get up there this morning in very windy ,almost gale conditions. At the start of the footpath from Pyms Chair towards Shining Tor the Snow Bunting showed to me briefly around 8.30am, as it flew onto the wall at the side of the path.Great to see it up there! All the best.
Great to connect with the reported Snow Bunting today on the path leading upto Shining Tor from Pym Chair above the Goyt Valley. An incredibly confiding bird.
