At Altrincham ETW on passage from mid-April for about a week. There are none there now and passage was very poor this spring. Birds were noted by others in fields 2 and 11 on Carrington Moss as last year but no sign of them or anything much at all when I cycled past the other day. A Blue-headed Wagtail (the superb Continental version - or one of them) was noted as present on Carrington Moss on BirdGuides but the map reference is completely wrong...

In GM out on our mosslands of Astley, Chat, Irlam and Carrington Moss where they nest in arable crops.

After seeing my first yellow wagtail in Britain and I have gained a great fondness for this bird and I was wondering if there was anywhere less then 30 minutes from Chorlton to get good close up views of this bird as I understand they are in decline and I would like to see them close up before I have to go really far away to see them. It is such a shame and I hope they make a come back.
