Several painted ladies heading purposefully west in the vicinity of Stanneybrook Park this afternoon. Also some small whites and a single orange tip. Whilst here I also checked out a few little nooks from my childhood that escaped the new industrial site. I was able to locate a few areas of harenut (or pignut if you prefer) and was pleased to see common spotted orchid leaves in a site from way back. Also, in the moth trap this morning (New Hey), I had poplar hawkmoth and a small elephant hawkmoth.
On a circular stroll from Th' Haugh, taking in Two Bridges, Coronation Lodge, Jubilee Bends, Bone Heys and Top o' th' Hill, I saw the following flowers of note:
marsh marigolds, Coronation Lodge, bogbean, Coronation Lodge, bluebells (aplenty), pignut (locally called harenuts), below Bone Heys.
Regards, Chris J - B.
