Cant comment on groups in Manchester Rob, but over this way there is the Leigh Ornithological Society who cover quite an area.

Thanks for this Craig.

Rob, the L.O.S. website with our fieldtrip and talk details and Facebook group addresses are in the links below. There is also a birding class run by Peter Baron at three different sites (Prestwich, Whitefield and Ramsbottom) which great for beginners as well as more experienced birders. Field trips are an integral part of this class. Good luck!

Hi there, I'm new to this. I was wondering if anyone an recommend any groups? I live in Manchester but there doesn't look to be many out there. I've been going to Dunham Massey quite a bit but only ever seem to see crows. I did see an unusual green bird a few weeks back which I think might have been a green woodpecker. Rob.

If you go to the 'Website Home Page' and click on 'Clubs Societies Recording Groups' you can find details of many local clubs and societies.

I know that Stockport Birdwatching Society run monthly coach trips and would be very willing to help a beginner. Their programme of indoor and outdoor meetings are listed via the above links.

Cheers John
