Hi Mike, Large Red Damselfly males are red but the females aren't really green? Are you sure that they are damselflies, could they be Common Hawker male and Common Hawker female, Google this & take a look at the pics & see what you think. They are relatievly small Dragonflies so I see where you could have been confused as to Dragon or Damsel. Hope this helps

Banded Demoiselle. Calopteryx splendens male at Burrs. This isthe furthest north in Bury I've seen these to date previosly seen Waterdale Prestywich, Elton and Knob End Bolton
