Banded Demoiselle seen today 23.06.15 in Manchester city centre in Pall Mall - landed on some bamboo outside a bar/restaurant .

Of Course I meant Common Darter NOT Common Hawker, but post can't be edited for some reason cry

Banded Demoiselle. Calopteryx splendens male at Burrs. This isthe furthest north in Bury I've seen these to date previosly seen Waterdale Prestywich, Elton and Knob End Bolton

Hi Mike, Large Red Damselfly males are red but the females aren't really green? Are you sure that they are damselflies, could they be Common Hawker male and Common Hawker female, Google this & take a look at the pics & see what you think. They are relatievly small Dragonflies so I see where you could have been confused as to Dragon or Damsel. Hope this helps smile

Struggle to identify some damselflies on a small pond past Reddisher Wood,mating on grass,one red and the other green.
Any ideas ?
