I'm the Chat Moss Project officer for the Wildlife Trust, working on the 3 Trust reserves of Astley Moss, Cadishead Moss and Little Woolden Moss. As most of you will be aware, there is fantastic birding in the Chat Moss area, and we are working to develop and enhance the exciting and diverse habitats on our sites. Due to the hazardous and sensitive nature of the mossland habitat, Astley Moss and Cadishead Moss canonly be visited by those with a valid permit to the site, and Little Woolden only via the public footpath around the perimeter. These safeguards are both for the safety of those visiting the site, but also for the birds that live there, many of which are very sensitive to disturbance of any kind. You can get a permit for the sites from myself free of charge, please just email me with your postal address, a contact number and your reason for wishing to gain access (eg bird watching, surveying etc) and I'll get back to you asap. Please also spread the word about the need for permits to others who wish to use the site, but may not have seen this post!
I also run a regular practical volunteer group on the sites who meet twice a week, so if you have an interest in helping conserve the habitat that our feathered friends depend on, then please get in touch!
