Worsley Woods Bioblitz

A joint bioblitz organised by the GM Local Record Centre and the Salford Rangers' takes place at Worsley Woods on Fri 9th/Sat 10th May with the aim of recording as many species as possible over a 24 hour period.

This is a great chance to go down to the woods and find out about the species that live there, as well as the work of the GM Local Record Centre and the Salford Rangers who manage the site. In addition, if you want to improve your ID skills whether birds, butterflies, plants or mammals, then you will be able to shadow and talk to experienced specialist recorders who will be recording on the site.

On Friday evening we will be setting small mammal traps, carrying out a bat survey/walk and running a moth trap. If you are interested in coming along to this please reserve your place via the GM Wildlife Website Friday evening bioblitz

The mammal traps will be checked early on Sat am, followed by a bird survey - book via the website (Sat early am Bioblitz)

The main public event runs from 11am to 3pm (no need to book) with the chance to view some of the site's aquatic creatures close up under the microscope. However, if you'd like to arrive earlier and help with the recording we will be on site from 7am on Saturday.

Records will be input into RODIS and so if you have any questions about using RODIS, GMLRC's Data Manager will be on hand to answer them. A live feed of species recorded will be displayed in the Beesley Green Community Centre M28 2QW
