RE: PhD Research into the importance of Gardens & their Wildlife

These online surveys seem to be the way forward in University research these days - though it might help if the Universities gave their students some help in the design of their surveys. This one was better than some I've completed.

As someone who lives in a communal block of appartments, that are managed by a flat management company, there isn't a lot of scope for improving the environment in the 'garden' such as it is, due to the fact that
a) we back on to the railway, so there is an issue with rats, mice, urban foxes etc
b) we are regularly the target of fly tippers
c) there's enough of a problem getting the residents to pay the service charges as it is - more plants and trees mean more management and costs

Fortunately the cleaner doesn't mind me having bird feeders. Anything that falls on the ground gets hoovered up by the local pigeons - there's no chance of anything being left over for mice etc

I hope folk won't mind this, just ignore if you are not interested. A PhD student at Manchester Uni is aware of the wealth of birding knowledge on web groups and would be grateful for help from anyone kind enough to complete his online questionairre, the link is at www.sites.google.com/site/domesticgardens if you have time. Thanks for your time :)
