OK - I'm not trying to persuade anyone from using mapmate for Submitting records. Just the opposite because, i suspect this software is less well suited. This is just another piece of free software I've discovered that might be of interest for those birders who get around more than others, or who ( like me) use GPS and mapping software for other purposes. Quo mapyx (google it) is a free mapping product that lets you plot and record your sightings on a basemap.
Admittedly it's not as intuitive as I'd thought it was going to be - click on bird database, click new, click map at location.... But it's a handy way of keeping records of say a year list that you might want separate from your local recording, and see where you've been on your trips.
