RE: Birdfair 2013

Great day out! One day was not enough. We missed the reserve sadly.

Spent the whole of Saturday at the fair and has a fabulous time. The layout seemed similar to last year's and it was busy without being too busy, so it was easy enough to find time to chat with folks from the BTO and some of the travel companies that I was interested in.

Purchased a few bits and bobs for the scope and came away with a mountain of brochures.

Also managed to see some nice birds around the lagoons in the afternoon.
- 2 Green Sandpiper
- Snipe
- 14 Ringed Plover
- 2 Greenshank
- 3 Black-tailed Godwit
- Dunlin
- 30+ Common Tern
- Hobby
- Osprey

Little Gull and Gargeny were also seen in the area.

I'll be there around Sunday lunchtime en route to a course in Peterborough on Monday.

Staying with friends in Wellingborough and planning on spending Saturday there. I expect that I shall return with more than enough holiday ideas if not a piece of equipment or two. Either way, it'll be expensive but fun! :)

Thanks Ian,

Just seen the train journey from Manchester - min 3 hours with 2 changes - Stoke and Nuneaton? Any quicker routes?

Took me 3 hours to drive there today and it's only 90 miles from home. Set out at 6.45 but should have gone earlier.

Cheers John

The other option would be public transport. Any one have any idea how it is from Manchester to Rutland. How would I get there and back?

Thanks!
