Quite. It would take a huge about-turn in priorities from those that pull the NATO strings for anything like that happen, seen as their role is mainly to provide military back-up to those interests that force 3rd world and developing nations to destroy or sell off their natural 'assets'. If only we could put as much value in the idea of 'ecological debt' than we do in dubiously enforced economic debt, we might stand a chance.
Done. But what the world really needs is an environmental NATO task force which can be sent to destruction hotspots in order to sort out those desecrating the planet: by force if necessary. As that is very wishful thinking, just enjoy what wildlife is left while you can.
Amusing, but I've not been a fan of HSBC's banking practicies for some time and transferred my account years ago. It isn't really a British Bank anymore and the deals providing the funding for projects like that were probably struck in Singapore or Hong Kong, so I'm doubtful that the UK branch can exert much influence. Will sign anyway.
Though this short video by Bill Oddie is highly amusing, its purpose is considerably more important and its message depressingly enlightening. Please take a look and ensure you add your name to the petition. If this is the only weapon we've got then that minute it takes is all the more important.
