RE: Gretna Starling Roost

It was a disaster. Didn't see any flocks of starlings and the car broke down on the way home. I phoned the RSPB at Campfield marsh and they didn't have a clue. Oh well. Starting to think I'm the worlds unluckiest birder.

No, I haven't been to Campfield, but based on the website info I suspect its worth a look if you're there anyway?

Cheers

Is Campfield marsh worth a visit, have you been before?

I need to be in Carlisle on Monday for an hour. I thought that while I was in the area I'd have a mooch. I've googled Carlisle birds and wildlife and didn't get much back. The only plan is to see the Gretna starlings, not sure about what to do with the rest of the day.

There's a map and directions on here http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1058350

Failing that, give the RSPB at Campfield Marsh a call - they'll know.

Cheers

Heading up to Carlisle on Monday and I'll be around the Gretna area just before dusk so I thought I'd check out the starling murmuration that I've been reading so much about. Thing is, I haven't got a clue whereabouts to head in Gretna. I've just done some research and somebody has mentioned Rigg which puts a fly in the ointment. Has anybody been, or does anybody know where to head?
