RE: What Do You Put In Your Feeders?

In my yard/garden (yarden?) I've got a niger seed feeder as we usually get a good number of goldfinch but not had many lately.
Also got one with mixed seed which is occasionally visited by Coal, Blue and Great tits; Used to get a few greenfinch on here but never see them any more either!
When I was at penny on the weekend of the big garden birdwatch there was a stall there selling hand crafted feeders which are like a wicker circle with fat balls and stuff hanging off which has proved very popular amongst the tits! My apple with sunflower seeds in and half coconut full of suet less so but hopefully they'll take to it soon.

I bulk buy Sunflower hearts, Black Sunflower seed and Millet from Bryn Corn supplies near Ashton. I mix them together and the various birds that visit my garden can empty two large 6 port feeders in two days. I also have different feeders containing fat balls, Niger seed, Peanuts and small Mealworm/suet pieces. Along with a bag of Apples, a bag of Raisins and a bag of grated cheese each week through Winter the birds eat better than I do

I find sunflower hearts to be the most popular with the Tits, Goldfinches and Chaffinches.I also have a niger seed feeder for the Goldies. The Long Tailed Tits seem to prefer Wilkinsons fat balls.I have peanuts out for the Tits as well.

However no matter what mixed seed I put out all that ever seems to get eaten are the sunflower seeds and the rest is left.

So what do you recommend?
