RE: Hulmes Wood / Denton Woods

Forge about the sparrowhawk patrolling through the wood which set off a few magpies into an alarm frenzy for a minute or so

Sunday morning, approx 10am to 12.45pm, visited Hulmes wood and Denton Woods (part of Reddish Vale which incidentally used to be teaming with bird life including alot of rarities). 5 Goldcrests, not all together, 2 Nuthatch, a Treecreeper, and 2 families of Long Tailed Tits, I counted 10 in the 1st then 8 in the 2nd, although there could've been more as they were hard to count. Well worth another visit this weekend, and I will try the fields and wooded clearings opposite leading to the old 16 Arches which used to be a breeding ground for Snipe, Cuckoo, Skylark, and Green Woodpeckers when I was a kid.
