The best place to view from is off Llysfaen Station Road in Llandulas. It's not on the shoreline but is actually slightly inland but quite elevated. The extra height makes for better viewing than from the shore and when it's bright and sunny you can pick out the drake Surf Scoters as the sun reflects off the white patches on their nape.

If you've got a satnav then just put in the road name. If not then come off the A55 at the Llandulas junction and get onto the old Colwyn Road A547. Head up the hill on the dual carriageway and the turning is on the right with a Cemex signpost on the entrance. The viewing spot is obvious from there. Good luck.

I'm contemplating heading over to N Wales to Llanddulas to try and see the Surf Scoters that have been knocking around. But...I have no idea where the best spot to gain access to the shore / watch from is. Any body help?

Doh, should have put this in the Wales bit. Sorry Ian
