Four Ring-necked Parakeets drinking water briefly in my Swinton garden this morning. Also three Redwings in the large Birch tree and both Buzzard and Sparrowhawk soaring overhead.
Goldfinch numbers visiting my feeders now over 60+.
7 Whooper swans circling low over the East Lancs at Wardly industrial estate.. looked like they had just taken off or were looking for a place to land in the torrential rain. They headed off in the direction of Black Leach CP.
Raven perched for a few minutes in large black poplar at the end of Warren Drive around midday. Receiving much attention from the pair of resident Carrion Crows.
Two waders heard flying at 7:30pm this evening while on Moorside Rd, Swinton (near Holy Rood Church). They seemed to be flying from Blackleach Country Park area towards the Pendlebury area.
My best guess is somewhere between a Redshank or a European Golden Plover.
Did anyone pick this up on nocmig?
Edit: I now believe it was two Oystercatchers.

A pair of Goosanders were fishing on Deans pond next to Moorside school this morning. They were constantly mobbed by six Magpies who eventually scared them away. A couple of minutes later a Cormorant flew in and caught a couple of small Roach.
Always a treat finding them Dave, remember a really severe cold spell in the 80s, finding a jack snipe that had succumbed to the cold on old clough lane walkden, not to far from hazlehurst road really. It was the first one I had ever seen.
Woodcock and Snipe were a common sighting for me in the 70s and 80s during Winter along Hazelhurst road. Mainly in the small copse with the stream where the new houses are being built at the moment.
Looking out of my utility room window into my back garden, which I originally thought was snow turned out to be pigeon feathers as a very big female sparrowhawk had a successful hit. Stayed around for a while causing a right commotion with the local Magpies and Blackbirds
There has been a leucistic woodpigeon with all white plumage in my Swinton garden for the past week, paired with a normal woodpigeon. I haven't had a close enough view to see whether it has pink or dark eyes.
A male Brambling with two Chaffinch turned up in my garden this morning. Both Chaffinch flew down to the bird table but the Brambling remained in the trees.
Hobby seen twice hunting along the edge of the woodland near the chapel. Spotted flycatcher flying from bushes at the bottom end of cemetery near A580. Sparrowhawk twice Kestrel Tawny owl well hidden in the trees Willow warblers Bullfinch 5 Goldfinch Song thrush 2 Mistle thrush Treecreeper 2 Nuthatch 8 Swallows
A Buzzard has just slowly flown North over my garden in Swinton with a rather darker plumage than the usual lighter coloured birds that I see on the mosslands.
Great Spotted Woodpecker flew across the road infront of the wagon at the M60 motorway junction near the Robin Hood pub and there were roughly around 40 Common Swift in the air around the motorway slip road
