Working on a garden in Liverpool Road South between 09.00 and 13.00, today, Tuesday 23rd April 2019, Sunny, warm and dry: Buzzard circling overhead....
06.00 - 08.30, Cloudy with drizzle - not the best of weather.
No sign of the Woodchat Shrike for Mr Barber and myself this morning.
Several birders present including Mike Baron gave the area a good dose of looking at - we did see a young male Marsh Harrier out on the mosses and Yellowhammers in the bushes down the farm track but that was about it -

Very nice views this evening of the adult male Woodchat Shrike. The bird was flitting around a few large bushes just 50 yards from the car park when I arrived and it showed itself off beautifully in the evening sunlight. Shortly after a tractor coming up the track flushed the bird where it then flew a short distance and took refuge in some foliage beneath an electricity pylon.
Should the bird stay it is at the end of Carr Lane which is off Acres Lane, Lydiate.
