RE: Congratulations!

Sorry about the omission. I didnīt think to check any other borough results, so that was remiss of me.
Please therefore Dave accept my apology and of course congratulations on what surely is a record for a Wigan year listing achievement!

All the best from Mike P, who hopes to be birding somewhere in G M on Saturday (weather aand Barbara permitting!).

Also not forgetting Dave Broomes total of 161 for Wigan Borough is also worthy of praise.

I took the opportunity this morning to catch up on the news from Greater Manchester, - but firstly from Madrid:

Happy New Year ! -To all in the Greater Manchester birding community, (or as we say here :- Feliz Aņo!)

I was interested to see how the various 2011 year listing efforts ended up, and feel that the efforts of Rob Archer, Brian Fielding, Karen Foulkes, and of course Andy Makin, all in their own particular niches, deserve some congratulations for superlative acheivements.

Rob has walked literally thousands of miles on the moors of the G M / lancs borders to achieve a creditable total in rather restricted habitat types, Brian has achieved the joint highest year list ever for Elton, Karen the joint highest female year list for GM (and very likely the highest species list for the county ever seen via public transport), and Andy has managed a Bolton Borough total far in excess of anything previously seen, that would be creditable even for the whole county.
Well done to all and all the best for 2012!

What might we see in 2012?

Cheers,
Mike P.
